Conveyance & Mortgages


Our conveyancing practice is state of the art. We work closely with our clients and keep on top of the ever-changing circumstances in the mortgage conveyancing business. We have computer systems that are equipped with customized conveyancing software programs that generate documents that are both accurate and government approved. We conduct title examinations throughout New England and with our vast network we have the ability to turn a title commitment in approximately five (5) business days.


Our services include the preparation of closing documents to completed closing packages; we prepare purchase and sale agreements at no charge to the borrower when they originate a loan through one of our clients and Barsh and Cohen, P.C. conducts the closing and issues the title insurance policy.


Our Attorneys can help you close your loans quickly and inexpensively, often within 24 hours of the clear to close.


We are approved closing attorneys for most of the nationally recognized investors/lenders. We are fully electronically based and are able to support the download of lender data and documents in order to help facilitate a smooth and efficient closing. Communication with most of our national clients is e-based and we will travel to close loans. All documents are scanned and data vaulted for ease of transmission.

Collections & Recovery


We are retail collections attorneys that are professionally trained with the authority and expertise to give legal advice to credit grantors and to collect delinquent retail/consumer debt using pre-suit methods as well as litigation and post-judgment enforcement by through bank and wage attachments.


The collection of retail debt is an essential part of keeping the economy healthy, as it helps insure that credit is available at reasonable rates and retailers maintain the ability to charge fair and equitable prices for products and services. Our collection methods are designed to collect the debt in the shortest amount of time in the most cost effective manner for our clients. Computerized monthly statements keep our clients up to date with their accounts.


Our collection procedure includes a demand letter and an attempt to collect the debt without litigation. If this method proves to be unsuccessful, prompt legal action, after confirmation of location and assets, takes place. Finally, we make sure that there is persistent enforcement of judgments and ongoing asset searches through “skip-tracing” to help in the location of home addresses and employment.


Often times a retail collection attorney is able to work directly with the debtor to work out a successful payment schedule acceptable to the grantor. However, if a payment schedule is not possible or violated, timely litigation and judgment enforcement are used to collect the debt.

As a full-service title company, Barsh and Cohen, P.C. offers title reports, legal and vesting reports and trust review services. These are non-insurance title reports designed for informational purposes to aid in closings of home equity loans and lines of credit. These reports are more substantial and contain more information than alternative title products. Our network of independent abstractors makes it possible to secure this information in as little as 48 hours.

Creditor Rights & Bankruptcy


Bankruptcy litigation to protect creditors’ rights is handled in a timely fashion to help avoid costly delays that can impede the foreclosure process in Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 proceedings. This, includes Motions for Relief from Stay, Evidentiary Hearings, B341 Meetings, presentation of Proofs of Claim, and Objections to Disclosure Statements.

Our representation of financial institutions and other secured creditors includes obtaining relief from the automatic stay and other remedies, negotiating and preparing cash collateral stipulations and debtor in possession financing stipulations, and preparing/competing plans of reorganization. We also represent lenders in out of court workouts and forbearance situations.
